BMA technical regulations

BMA Black PNG

If you have decided to participate in the BMA championship and already are in the possession of a licence (can be attained during Navas racing club events after passing a theory exam or online on nrc.lt in your profile and paying fors the licence) you are required to meet certain safety regulations to help protect yourself as well as other participants around you. Before official races (official practice and qualification included) the motorcyclist is required to present his her motorcycle and his/her wearable safety equipment to the technical committee. The equipment as well as the motorcycle are required to be technically fit (e.g. clean, no evidence of potential leaks, damaged parts etc.)

  1. Classes:
    1. Street-Street, Street-Superbike600; Street-Superbike100 and Super-Street class participant’s motorcycles must meet the requirements of the country in which the competition is taking place for vehicles involved in public transport (the motorcycle must be fully prepared for use in the streets, would have all natively required documentation to legally operate the motorcycle on the streets. No Tyre restriction for this or any other class.
    2. C600, B600, Supersport:
      1. 400-636 cc (four-stroke, 4 cylinder)
      2. 500-675 cc (four-stroke, 3 cylinder)
      3. 600-750 cc (four-stroke, 2 cylinder)
    3. C1000, B1000, Superbike:
      1. 750-1000 cc (four-stroke, 3 or 4 cylinder)
      2. 850-1200cc (four-stroke, 2 cylinder)
    4. The main technical requirements for BMA competitors (also recommended for track day participants) for motorcycles and wearable equipment:
      1. The oil filter must be fastened (e.g. hose clamp + wired to the engine part) to prevent self-turning (see photos below).
      2. Oil fill cap to be wired to engine/frame to prevent unscrewing (see photos below).
      3. Oil draining screw (screw with hole in it to pass wire through to prevent unscrewing, see photos below).
      4. Orderly wearable equipment (without any damage): helmet with “double D” ring fastener (see photos below), motorcycle boots, motorcycle gloves, motorcycling outfit and back and spine guard (see photo below) are all necessary.
      5. Side stand has to be either taken off or fastened so that it would not open during riding.
      6. Passenger foot pegs to be removed.
      7. Motorcycles may not have additional sharp edges or any other defects/structures that do not follow the manufacturer’s technical requirements.
      8. Pretendent (C600, C1000, Street-Street, Street-Superbike) headlights have to be masked (with tape) and side mirrors have to be folded inwards and fastened or taken off completely.
      9. Before participating in a competition, you should consider whether there is a sound limit on the track (e.g. Poland, Poznan race track in 2017 the Pretendent class (c600, C1000) allowed a maximum of 98 db, and other classes a maximum of 102 db). If you suspect your motorcycle can emit more sound at half its maximum RPM, it is required for you to implement additional components (e.g.“db killer”) to the muffler to diminish the sound emitted or to purchase another muffler tank or even a full muffler.
      10. Tyres:
No any tyre or warmers restriction for any of class.
      11. Starting numbers:
At the front, the height of the number is to be no less than 140 mm, the width of a single number is to be no less than 80 mm, font thickness has to be at least 25 mm and the gap between numbers has to be at least 10mm (example attached in gallery below).
The side numbers (on both sides of the motorcycle belly pan) are to have a height of at least 120 mm, a single digit width of no less than 70 mm, a font thickness of at least 20 mm and a space between the numbers of at least 10 mm.
  • Pretendent: Green numbers in a white background.
  • B600 and B1000: Red numbers in a white background.
  • Supersport: Blue numbers in a white background.
Superbike: Black numbers in a white background.
  • Street-Street, Street-Superbike and Super-Street – white number in a black background.
  1. Additional requirements (for B600, B1000, Supersport and Superbike in all championship stages and for Pretendent (C600 and C1000) in foreign championship stages).
    1. Sport type exterior (plastics, fairings). Belly pan has to be sealed and in case of liquid spill should hold at least 5 litres of liquid. Engine air intake (front and/or rear) should be available for opening/closing depending on the weather (in the outer plastic shell of the motorcycle).
    2. Sponges in fuel tank (see below pictures).
    3. Rear sprocket/chain protective plastic (to prevent leg from getting entangled in case of accident, see photos below).
    4. Front brake/clutch lever handlebar protective guard (to prevent other contestants from accidentally pushing down levers on impact, see photos below).
    5. Red rear light that is disconnected from the main circuitry of the motorcycle (to use external power source such as AA batteries). Used in rainy conditions, has to be constantly on without any blinking.
    6. Engine coolant has to be water.
